Speakers will address the following issues as they affect women and girls: domestic violence, human trafficking, drug and substance abuse, family planning and barriers to adequate reproductive health care, and trans-national parenting. This is a free forum open to the public as a public service by the co-sponsors. Sponsored by the Women's Interfaith Dialogue Group, League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge, AAUW, and Altrusa. Speakers: Laura Rigell & Alex Durand, TennYEN (Tennessee Youth Environmental Network). Topic: TennYEN. Laura and Alex have taken a year off before going to college to establish TennYEN. They are making presentations at area high school environmental science classes and ecology clubs on the greenhouse effect, global warming, and earth's climate history. Speaker: Dr. Brian Barber, Professor of Child and Family Studies at UT and Founder of the Center for the Study of Youth and Political Violence. Topic: Dr. Barber will talk about the Center and his travels to the Middle East interviewing students who are products of political violence. He plans to interview four Egyptian students who were at RSCC in Oak Ridge on his next trip to Egypt. The public is invited and no reservations are necessary. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Nicholas served as chief of Resources Management and Science at Yosemite National Park. She received a BS in Biology from Northwestern, an MS in ecology from UT, and a doctorate in forestry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. She is a Norris, TN, native.
